CARETAKER

     When there is a vacancy of an Associate NCC Officer in a school or college by any reason, another teacher/lecturer of the staff should come forward to retain NCC in that institution. He/She should apply in proper format to the Commanding Officer of the respective Battalion. The application would be forwarded to the Group Head Quarters and then to the Directorate after which he/she would be known as CARETAKER ANO. He/She should perform almost all the duties of an ANO and within one year can apply for the post of ANO.

ANO SELECTION PROCEDURE

Once appointed as Caretaker the next step is to apply for the post of ANO. Your Battalion will give you the details and procedure. You will be called for an interview with your Battalion Commanding Officer (probably a Colonel) and then you would be interviewd by the Group Commander (Colonel and above). The third interview will be at the Directorate where there will be a panel of Interviewers representing Army, Navy, Air Force, Department of Education etc. Once the interview board accepts your application the next step is to attend the Pre-Commission Course popularly known as PRCN.

The PRCN for NCC Officers is conducted only in two places in India

1. Officer's Training Academy, Kamptee, Maharashtra
2. Women Officer's Training Academy, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh

Once you have been directed to attend the PRCN it would be good if you do some physical exercises in the morning like slow running, push-ups, sit-ups etc. Those who used to play during school and college have opportunities there to go back to the good old days. (But please be careful about injuries. I myself am a victim of it)
